The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Lukhminsky, who is seen as the father of this student chapter. Himself being an active SPE member since a few years, he sees it as part of his responsibilities at his faculty to introduce his students to opportunities outside of his home country to engage them with a society of engineers that spreads beyond borders and cultures. Paccaloni spoke with the students about the importance of the SPE membership throughout their academic and professional careers. Striving for excellence was one of his major messages to the student. The Vice rector of the university, Mr. Oleg S. Bruchovetsky together with Prof. Vladimir S. Zintchenko, dean of the geophysical department and Prof. Alexey A. Nikitin, chair of the nuclear geophysics department, were present and vice rector Bruchovetsky thanked Paccaloni et al. for opening the student chapter at his university and had several questions about the society that Paccaloni answered in detail.
