Lately, the selection and research of the isolated core from argillaceous-siliceous deposits of the Bazhenov formation allowed receiving new information about reservoirs of these strata. New information contradicts the earlier existing opinion, about clay reservoirs of the Bazhenov formation. On the example of a several fields, located on the different flanks of the Frolovsky megahollow in Western Siberia, it was proven that generally, the reservoirs of the Bazhenov formation are dated for radiolarian layers, in various degree siliceous or carbonaceous.

The Fourth International Student Scientific and Practical Conference “Oil & Gas Horizons” is going to be held at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, (Moscow, Russian Federation) on 12 and 13 November, 2012.

Abstract:

Development of Far North oil and gas field is growing in Russia especially in Yamal region. Cementing of top sections always been a challenge due to Permafrost formation and shallow gas. Conventional cementing systems cannot meet requirements to provide good zonal isolation due to low temperature. Special systems were developed to provide short thickening time and quick compressive strength development.

When designing a well, the main goal is to have the simplest possible completion, while being able to get the greatest amount of information and concomitantly to achieve the most encompassing well control. Simplicity and ability to get information and control are at first antagonistic drives, not to mention the duality of cost-benefit. One way to solve this paradigm is obviously to face the risk and increase the number of field cases.
